Offensive Player of the Week
Ella Masar, Illinois
JR, F, Urbana, Ill./Urbana
Masar earns her first Player of the Week honor after notching a career game in Illinois' 3-2 victory over then-No. 9 Penn State. The junior scored two goals, including the game-winner, within a 25-minute span. The contest marked her first two-goal game while playing at Illinois and third career game-winning goal. The Urbana, Ill., native helped spark the Illini's comeback from a 2-0 deficit when she tied the game at 59:47. She went on to net the go-ahead goal at 83:51 to give Illinois just its second win over Penn State in school history.
Defensive PlayerS of the Week
Jenna Babcock, Indiana
JR, D, Evansville, Ind./Mater Dei
Babcock claims Defensive Player of the Week laurels after anchoring an Indiana defense that allowed only one goal and leading the Hoosiers to a 2-0 weekend. The junior helped IU contain two of the conference's top scorer, holding Michigan State's Lauren Hill (first, 16 points, seven goals) to just two shots and no points. This is Babcock's first weekly accolade of her career and she is the first Hoosier to be honored since Beverly Markwort was named Player of the Week on Sept. 19, 2005.
