Zurrer piloted an Illinois defense that produced two shutout victories over the weekend against Big Ten opposition. On Friday versus Michigan State, Zurrer and the Illini backline held the Spartans to a mere three shots on goal preserving the 3-0 win. The Vancouver native followed that performance by anchoring a stingy Illinois defense on Sunday that allowed just one shot on goal, claiming the 1-0 victory over Michigan.
