Field Set For 2004 Big Ten Women's Soccer Tournament

Bracket in PDF Format PARK RIDGE , IL - The 2004 Big Ten Women's Soccer Tournament bracket is set and was released today by the Conference office. League teams closed out their Big Ten schedules last week and wrap up non-conference play next weekend. This year's Tournament, hosted by Ohio State University, kicks off on Thursday, November 4 and runs through Sunday, November 7. Penn State closed out its Big Ten schedule with a 3-0 win against Ohio State on Friday, marking the third time since joining the League that the team has finished with an unblemished League record. The last time the Nittany Lions accomplished this feat was in 2000. As the top seed, Penn State will match up against No. 8 Indiana at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 4, in the first quarterfinal of the day, as the Hoosiers posted a 3-5-2 Conference record. Ohio State earned the No. 2 seed in the Tournament with a record of 6-1-3 and will match up against seventh-seeded Purdue, with a League mark of 4-6-0, at 4:30 p.m. Michigan finished the Conference regular season with a 6-3-1 record to earn the No. 3 seed. The Wolverines will take the field at 7:30 p.m. against a sixth-seeded Wisconsin team that posted a 5-4-1 record in Conference play. This year's No. 4 versus No. 5 game will feature defending Tournament champion Illinois as the fourth seed with a record of 5-3-2 and Northwestern in the fifth spot with a record of 5-4-1. The Wildcats tied Wisconsin with 16 points in the standings, but received the higher seed after defeating the Badgers' in head-to-head competition. The game is set to start at 1:30 p.m. The 2004 Tournament title game will be broadcast live by College Sports Television (CSTV) on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2:30 p.m. (EST).
