NCAA Tournament - Third Round (Current Bracket)

For the 12th time in program history, Penn State has moved on to the NCAA quarterfinals (Elite Eight) following a 3-1 win at second-seeded West Virginia in a third-round match on Sunday night in Morgantown. The Nittany Lions erased an early one-goal deficit with first-half goals from Alina Ortega Jurado and Elizabeth Ball (both assisted by Emily Ogle) before Ball set up Frannie Crouse for the clinching score in the 55th minute.

NCAA Tournament - Second Round


Penn State advanced to the NCAA Tournament's third round with a comprehensive 2-0 win over Wake Forest on goals from Alina Ortega Jurado and Laura Friegang a little more than six minutes apart early in the second half.

The other three Big Ten schools competing in the NCAA Tournament battled hard to draws or one-goal decisions, with two going into overtime and one to penalty kicks, before all three were eliminated.

NCAA Tournament - First Round

Four Big Ten schools came away with victories in the first round of this year's NCAA Tournament, with three of the winners posting shutouts. Reigning Big Ten Tournament champion and No. 3 seed Penn State posted the most goals and its largest margin of victory ever in an NCAA Tournament contest with its opening-round 7-0 win over Stony Brook. Wisconsin also set a school record for goals in an NCAA Tournament match with its 5-0 victory over Toledo. Rutgers moved into the second round for the fourth consecutive year and fifth time in six years with its 3-1 win over La Salle. Northwestern joined the Big Ten contingent with a dramatic shootout win over Butler, edging the Bulldogs, 3-2 on penalty kicks after the schools played to a scoreless double-overtime draw.
