The No. 1 seed Nittany Lion women's soccer team (21-0-1) defeated West Virginia (12-6-0) in the second round of the NCAA tournament at Jeffrey Field Sunday, 5-2. With the win the Nittany Lions advance to the third round to play the winner of Southern Methodist and Texas A&M match in progress this afternoon. Head coach Paula Wilkins recorded her 99th career victory Sunday as the Lions advance to the NCAA third round for the seventh time in eight years. Full Story
Illinois 1, Florida State 2
Illinois fought to the end, but ran into a Florida State team worth its No. 2 regional ranking as the Seminoles ended the Orange and Blue's season with a 2-1 win in the NCAA second round game played at James G. Pressly Stadium in front of 248 fans. Ella Masar scored the Illini's lone goal in the 76th minute, but late attacks were fruitless as Illinois finished its campaign 12-7-3. Full Story
Michigan State 0, Notre Dame 3
The Michigan State women's soccer team suffered a season-ending loss to the No. 1 seeded Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, 3-0, in South Bend on Sunday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. With the win, the Irish (21-2-0) advance to the third round of the NCAA Tournament to face the winner of the second round match between the Yale Bulldogs and the Duke Blue Devils. Michigan State (12-6-5) was held scoreless in the loss for only the second time this season. Full Story
