Second-seeded Penn State (18-4-3) punched its ticket to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Boston College (12-7-3) Sunday afternoon at Jeffrey Field. The Nittany Lions will be making their eighth appearance in the elite eight and will be bidding for their fourth trip to the College Cup.

With the win, Penn State advances to play top-ranked Notre Dame (23-0-1) in South Bend, Ind. in a quarterfinal match-up tentatively scheduled for Fri., Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m. The Lions are 0-1 in their all-time series with the Irish, falling 2-1 at Notre Dame in the 2001 season opener.
