The 2017 Big Ten Women's Soccer Tournament was played Oct. 29 & Nov. 3-5, 2017, with the top four seeded schools playing host to quarterfinal matches and the semifinals and championship match being played at Grand Park in Westfield, Ind.

Championship: Haleigh Echard's goal with 11:42 remaining gave fifth-seeded Penn State a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over No. 2 seed Northwestern in the Big Ten Women's Soccer Tournament championship match at Grand Park in Westfield, Ind. The Nittany Lions earned their seventh Big Ten Tournament title, and first since 2015, while also securing the Big Ten's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. Northwestern had taken a 1-0 lead on Nia Harris' goal with 7:32 left in the first half, at which point the match was halted due to severe weather. Following a delay of more than two hours, the match resumed indoors at the Grand Park Events Center. The Wildcats maintained their lead past the midpoint of the second half until Penn State equalized on Laura Freigang's goal with 19:28 left in regulation, setting up Echard's championship-winning score.

Semifinals: The drama carried over into the semifinals, as No. 5 Penn State outlasted top-seeded Ohio State, 1-0 in double overtime on Laura Freigang's goal with 42 seconds left in extra time. It was the first Big Ten Women's Soccer Tournament semifinal contest to go to overtime since 2007, when the same Nittany Lions and Buckeyes ended up going to penalty kicks (and OSU winning 5-4) after a 2-2 double-overtime draw. The second semifinal also ended up going to double overtime, with No. 2 seed Northwestern coming out on top over sixth-seeded Wisconsin, 2-1 on Maria Fayeulle's goal in the 105th minute. The Wildcats advance to the Big Ten Tournament championship match for the second time in program history and the first since 1997.

Quarterfinals: For the second year in a row, drama was the order of the day in the quarterfinal round of the Big Ten Women's Soccer Tournament, with three of the four matches decided in the final three minutes of regulation, overtime or via penalty kicks. Top-seeded Ohio State will make its eighth semifinal appearance after a 2-1 double-overtime win over No. 8 seed Iowa on Sarah Roberts' long-range goal in the 103rd minute. The Buckeyes will take on fifth-seeded Penn State, which needed penalty kicks to topple No. 4 Rutgers after the two sides played to a 0-0 double-overtime draw. Maddie Elliston was the hero for the Nittany Lions, scoring in the sixth round of penalties to secure PSU's 4-3 shootout win. On the bottom half of the bracket, No. 2 Northwestern moved to the semifinals for the third time in four years with a 1-0 win over seventh-seeded Purdue, thanks to Michelle Chernesky's goal with 2:56 left in regulation. The Wildcats will meet No. 6 seed Wisconsin in Friday's second semifinal after the Badgers earned a 2-0 win at third-seeded Minnesota on the strength of goals from Maia Cella and Dani Rhodes.
