The Buena Park, Calif., native earns her first Player of the Week honor. Pitcher of the Week LaRiva tallied three wins on the weekend, including one in relief, to earn Pitcher of the Week laurels. The senior posted a 0.38 ERA, striking out 13 batters in 18.1 innings, while allowing just one run and holding opposing batters to a .153 average. She opened the weekend, tossing a two-hitter against Pittsburgh, while striking out four in her season debut. LaRiva followed with a complete game against Bethune-Cookman to claim a 2-1 victory. The Tustin, Calif., native then entered the game against Florida Atlantic with bases loaded and two outs in the third inning. She struck out the first batter to get Purdue out of the jam and then allowed just one hit, while fanning a total of six batters in the relief effort. LaRiva earns her fourth weekly accolade as she was also honored three times last season (Feb. 15, March 14 and April 25, 2005).
