UW's Hnatyk and Michigan's Wilson Pick Up Softball Weekly Accolades

Player of the Week
Katie Hnatyk, Wisconsin
Jr., OF, London, Ontario/Woodbury (Minn.)
Hnatyk earns her first Player of the Week accolade after hitting 11-for-14 (.786) with four home runs, 13 RBI and seven runs at the UTEP Invitational last weekend. The junior outfielder broke UW's career home run record with a grand slam in a 17-0 shutout over Northern Colorado. Hnatyk has now tallied 24 home runs in her career. She closed out the weekend, by notching a 2.000 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .824.


Pitcher of the Week
Lorilyn Wilson, Michigan
Sr., P, Salem, Ore./Sprague
Wilson claims her third consecutive Pitcher of the Week accolade after posting a 3-0 record to capture the NFCA Leadoff Classic's Most Outstanding Player award. The Michigan ace threw 25 strikeouts in the three-game performance, including 10 against Auburn and Virginia Tech. She has now moved into the fourth spot among U-M's all-time leaders in strikeouts with 450 K's. For the week, Wilson allowed just one run and four walks for a 0.32 ERA. The Salem, Ore., native picks up her third consecutive and seventh all-time Big Ten weekly accolade as she was also honored twice this season (Feb. 13 and Feb. 21, 2007),  three times in 2005 (Feb. 22, March 21 and April 11) and once last season (March 27, 2006).
