Wedel earns her first Big Ten Player of the Week honor after being named to the NFCA Leadoff Classic All-Tournament team and leading Illinois to a 5-0 record over the weekend. The sophomore was 7-of-13 at the plate, a .538 average, while slugging .923 and reaching base at a .600 clip. On the weekend, Wedel knocked in six runs, while scoring seven herself, had a home run and two doubles as the Illini improved to 14-1 on the season. The sophomore's top game of the weekend came Friday night against Mississippi Valley State, where she went 2-3 with a homer and a double, knocking in four runs and scoring three times.

Pitcher of the Week
Lacey Middlebrooks, Minnesota

Middlebrooks wins her first Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honor after posting a 3-1 record over the weekend for the Gophers. Through four weekend contests, the freshman allowed just one earned run through 26.1 innings of work, good for a 0.27 earned run average. Middlebrooks allowed just 10 hits on the weekend, while striking out 24 and walking only nine. She posted two complete game victories, pitching seven innings of five-hit ball against Florida Gulf Coast and recording a complete game shutout against Connecticut.
