Minnesota and Purdue Standouts Earn Weekly Conference Accolades

Player and Co-Freshman of the Week:
Andie Varsho, Purdue
Fr., OF, Chili, Wis./Marshfield

Varsho earns Big Ten Player of the Week status for the first time in her career after batting .714 and accounting for 11 runs to help Purdue to a 3-1 record last week. The freshman had four multi-hit games, drove in six runs and scored five times in finishing the weekend with a 1.928 OPS. Varsho went 10-for-14 on the week, including three-hit games against Rutgers and Middle Tennessee and two-hit efforts against Buffalo and Hofstra. In addition to a double, a triple and a home run last week, she also had one stolen base. Varsho claims her second Big Ten Freshman of the Week accolade.

Pitcher and Co-Freshman of the Week:
Sara Moulton, Minnesota
Fr., P, Eagan, Minn./Eagan

Moulton allowed just four earned runs in 27 innings of work for a 1.04 ERA in earning her first Big Ten Pitcher of the Week accolade. The freshman went 3-1 last week for the Gophers, striking out 26 and throwing three complete-game shutouts to lead Minnesota to the Mizuno Classic title. In her three wins, Moulton surrendered just 10 hits in 21 innings in victories over Northern Colorado, Northern Iowa and against No. 20 Oklahoma State in the championship contest. She claims her first Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor.
