Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota Take Home Weekly Softball Honors

Player of the Week: Ochoa batted .611 last week, going 11-of-18 from the plate, and had an OPS of 1.317 in leading Iowa to a 4-2 record to claim her first Big Ten Player of the Week honor. The senior finished with three multi-hit games on the week, including a career high 4-for-4 outing against Tennessee. Ochoa scored six runs on the week with an RBI and a stolen base. She capped the week with a 5-for-6 effort in a doubleheader against South Dakota, including a 3-for-3 performance in the finale which included two runs, an RBI and a stolen base. Last Iowa Player of the Week: Liz Watkins (March 29, 2010) Pitcher of the Week: Taylor posted a 2-1 record last week with wins over a pair of top-10 teams to earn Big Ten Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season. The senior posted complete-game shutouts against No. 6 Arizona State and No. 7 Arizona, also recording the save against Cal State Fullerton. In 21.1 innings of work, Taylor struck out 29 batters and allowed just three earned runs. Against the Sun Devils, she struck out eight and allowed just two hits before striking out seven and surrendering just seven hits versus the Wildcats. Last Michigan Pitcher of the Week: Jordan Taylor (Feb. 21, 2011) Freshman of the Week: Moulton finished the week with a 0.53 ERA, allowing just three earned runs in 39.1 innings of work as Minnesota went 4-2 on the week. The newcomer, who records her second consecutive Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor, recorded a 0.58 WHIP, struck out 53 batters, and walked just seven in her six outings, holding opposing batters to a .119 average. On the weekend, Moulton went the distance in five contests, throwing complete game shutouts against North Dakota State and Western Michigan.
