Lana Armstrong, Illinois

Armstrong batted .450 (9-for-20) with four home runs and two doubles last week to share Player of the Week accolades. In an 18-4 win over Illinois-Chicago, the sophomore catcher went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run, while tallying four RBI. Armstrong notched her ninth home run of the season in a 3-2 victory over Longwood. She closed out the week, registering a 1.150 slugging percentage.

Weigle went 7-for-14 at the plate (.500), tallying two triples, two doubles and one home run at the Miami (Ohio) Invitational last weekend. Weigle notched three consecutive four RBI contests to lead the Spartans to a 3-1 record last weekend. The sophomore from Naples, Fla., sparked an MSU comeback in the seventh inning against Toledo, contributing three RBI, including a two-run single, to give the Spartans the 9-8 victory. Weigle then registered her team-leading fourth home run of the season, a grand slam, in MSU's shutout triumph over Miami (Ohio).

Pitcher of the Week
Eileen Canney, Northwestern
Sr., P, Paradise, Calif./Paradise

Canney went 3-1, tallying 34 strikeouts in 23.0 innings pitched and a .30 ERA last week. She allowed just two hits and an unearned run with 12 strikeouts in a win at Saint Louis. She captured a 2-1 victory over No. 9 Michigan, giving up only two hits and an unearned run, while fanning 12 batters. Canney followed with another top performance, allowing just two hits and one run to claim an 11-1 win over California. She struck out 10 in just five innings of work against the Golden Bears to claim her 900th strikeout of her career.
