At the halfway point of the conference season, six Big Ten teams are at or above .500 in conference play, paced by Michigan's 7-1 mark. Indiana is second in the standings at 8-2, followed by Iowa at 7-3 and Purdue with a 5-3 mark. Illinois (6-4) and Penn State (5-5) round out the top half of the conference standings.

Boasting the most nationally broadcast softball games of any conference in the nation, the Big Ten will have five conference matchups available to a national audience this week. Highlighting Wednesday's slate of midweek contests, Michigan travels to Penn State for a doubleheader that will be televised live by the Big Ten Network, while Sunday's Ohio State at Northwestern contest will also be carried live by the network. Additionally, two other conference games are slated for streamed coverage on www.bigtennetwork.com.

In national news this week, Michigan climbed to No. 1 in both the USA Softball and National Fastpitch Coaches Association polls, while Big Ten Pitcher of the Week Morgan Melloh of Indiana was honored as USA Softball's Collegiate Player of the Week on Tuesday.
