With three weekends remaining in the Big Ten softball season, only two games separate first through fifth place in the conference standings with Michigan (12-3) holding a one- game lead over second-place Wisconsin (11-4). Purdue is 10-4 on the season and is third in the standings, followed by Iowa and Nebraska, which are tied for fourth with 10-5 conference marks.

The Big Ten ranks second among all conferences with nine teams in the top 100 of the latest NCAA RPI report, paced by No. 28 Michigan. The Wolverines are joined by six other teams in the top 64, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Purdue, Nebraska and Illinois. Michigan also appears in the top 25 of the USA Softball and NFCA rankings, checking in at No. 22 in both polls.

Boasting the most nationally distributed softball games of any conference, the Big Ten is scheduled to have 11 contests televised or streamed to a national audience this week, part of nearly 100 scheduled softball broadcasts this season on BTN or BTN.com. On Saturday, BTN will televise the doubleheader between Illinois and Michigan before carrying the Penn State-Minnesota and Michigan State-Nebraska series finales on Sunday.
