Michigan Sweeps Weekly Big Ten Softball Honors

Player of the Week
Chidester earns Player of the Week honors after driving in 13 runs in Michigan's five victories last week. The junior was 8-for-14 from the plate with three extra- base hits, including two home runs. She drove in two or more runs in four of the Wolverines' games last week and extended her hitting streak to seven. In Wednesday's doubleheader sweep over Ohio State, Chidester drove in seven, including a grand slam in the opener, before going 4-for-5 with three RBI in a weekend sweep of Minnesota.

Pitcher of the Week
Taylor was 4-0 last week for Michigan, posted an 0.84 ERA and struck out 34 batters against just five walks to earn Pitcher of the Week honors. Throwing six innings in each end of a doubleheader vs. Ohio State on Wednesday, she allowed just one run on three hits, fanning 18 with just two walks on the day. In a weekend series against Minnesota, Taylor allowed just two earned runs and ended the week with a 10-strikeout effort in Sunday's series finale. She is now 27-3 on the season.

Freshman of the Week
Sappingfield garners Freshman of the Week accolades after batting .529 (9-for-17) with three multi-hit games for the Wolverines last week. The freshman finished with two hits in each game of Wednesday's doubleheader with Ohio State, scoring one run in both contests. In the weekend series vs. Minnesota, Sappingfield scored twice in each game, drove in the game-tying RBI on Saturday and notched a career-high three hits in the finale on Sunday.
