Four Teams Chosen For NCAA Tournament

Four Big Ten teams earned spots in the 2008 NCAA Softball Championship. Michigan, Northwestern, and Iowa will all host regional sites, while Purdue will travel to Los Angeles, Calif. Big Ten co-champion Michigan is the tournament's No. 4 overall seed and plays host to Wright State in the first round. Notre Dame and Kent State round out the Ann Arbor regional. Northwestern, the Big Ten co-champion and tournament champion, is the No. 11 overall seed in the tournament. The Wildcats have Western Illinois up first, with Drake and DePaul also travelling to Evanston. Iowa will host and face Missouri in first round action. No. 14 Long Beach State will take on Creighton in the other first round game in Iowa City. Purdue hits the road to take on Nevada in Los Angeles. No. 2 UCLA is the host of that site and faces Cal State Fullerton in first round action. All four teams start play on Friday, May 16, with double-elimination regional action concluding on Sunday, May 18.
