Northwestern Head Coach Kate Drohan
"We are very excited to make a return to Oklahoma City. Last year our experience was outstanding. Everyone in the city was phenomenal to our team and our fans. We felt very welcome here and had a wonderful experience. Secondly, I would like to take this time to thank our university. Ever since we returned here last year, the last 12 months there has been great energy on campus and great support for our program. This has enabled us to make a return trip. Our team is excited to play and they are ready to go. We are going to take it one game at a time."
On the state of Illinois having two teams in the WCWS...
"The youth level in Chicago is doing an excellent job in preparing our student-athletes. I think there are a lot of strong D-1 programs in the state of Illinois. It is competitive recruiting wise. We played a doubleheader against DePaul a few weeks ago and that prepared us for the postseason. I think it is a great representation of our city."

On Northwestern returning to the WCWS and the progress of the program...
"The last four years have definitely gone a long way in developing our program. I think that the upperclassmen when I came in established the heart and proper work ethic. We have a great team vision, and we want to win a national championship. Our coaches are very inspiring and are teaching us what it takes to go all the way. Every year we try to get a little bit better. Hopefully this year we can be a little better than we were last year."
