LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athlete list was announced on Wednesday and 93 softball players from the Big Ten earned the distinction.
To qualify for the honor, students must have achieved a 3.5 grade-point average for the 2016-17 academic year.
Students who participate in softball at Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Purdue, Rutgers, and Wisconsin were each represented on the list. What’s more, the programs at Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Rutgers and Wisconsin each were chosen as 2016-17 Easton/NFCA Division I All-Academic Teams, with all nine schools registering team GPA of 3.1 or higher last year.
