Purdue and Ohio State Collect Weekly Women's Swimming and Diving Awards

Women's Swimmer of the Week Ariel Martin put together a strong showing as Purdue defeated Indiana, 161-139 last weekend. Martin won all three sprint freestyle events, including an NCAA-provisional mark in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.12. The senior matched her season-best time in the 100 free with a time of 50.62 and, earned top honors in the 50 free when she touched the wall in 23.31. Women's Diver of the Week Ohio State's Bianca Alvarez collected four titles in the springboard events last weekend as the Buckeyes competed against Michigan and Michigan State. Against the Wolverines, the junior took first place in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events with respective scores of 327.30 and 386.62. Against the Spartans, the Buckeye took top honors on both boards, with a score of 344.7 on the 1-meter. Alvarez's score of 420.68 on the 3-meter set a McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion record.
