Indiana and Minnesota Take Home Weekly Swimming and Diving Honors

The conference office announced on Tuesday the 15th weekly women’s swimming and diving awards for meets from Jan. 18-24. Indiana’s Margaux Farrell and Minnesota’s Kelci Bryant earned the nod as Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, after leading their teams to wins in weekend competition. 

Women’s Swimmer of the Week:
Margaux Farrell, Indiana
So. - Woodbridge, Conn. - Amity Regional

Sophomore Margaux Farrell posted a season best in each of her four events over the weekend while picking up a pair of individual victories as the Hoosiers posted a 166.5-133.5 win over rival Purdue. Farrell began the meet with a top-finish in the 200 freestyle, posting a season best and NCAA provisional mark of 1:48.14. The Woodbridge, Conn., native also captured the 100-free title with a season best time of 50.48. To complete the day, she added two runner-up finishes in the 50 free (23.34) and 400 free relay, in which she aided the Hoosier quartet to an NCAA B cut time of 3:24.43. This is the first weekly award in Farrell’s career.

Women’s Diver of the Week:
Kelci Bryant, Minnesota

Sophomore Kelci Bryant garners her third weekly diving laurel of the season after posting a pair of top finishes to help Minnesota capture the team title at the Swimming World College Conference Championships in East Brunswick, N.J., last weekend. Bryant swept the springboard events, tallying 18 points for the Gophers overall. The Chatham, Ill., native registered a 344.50 score in the one-meter competition before adding a 394.45 mark off the three-meter board. Both winning efforts were good enough to meet NCAA qualification standards.
