Swimmer of the Week
Robin Samples, Iowa
JR, Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt

Samples competed in two events for Iowa as the Hawkeyes defeated in-state rival Northern Iowa, 138-62, over the weekend.  In her final competition before the Big Ten Championships, the junior touched the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle in 54.38. The Des Moines, Iowa, native also competed in the 50 free competition, clocking in at 25.08 which was good for a second-place finish. This is Samples' first career weekly accolade and the first for an Iowa swimmer since Kelly Werner earned the award on Dec. 13, 2005.  Iowa diver, Nancilea Underwood is the only other Hawkeye to be honored by the conference this season as she claimed Diver of the Week laurels three times and most recently when she joined Werner on Dec 13.

Big Ten women's swimming and diving squads are back in action Feb. 15-18 when the teams travel to Columbus, Ohio, for the 2006 Big Ten Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.
