Indiana jumped out to an early lead after Wednesday’s opening session at the 2010 Big Ten Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted by Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. The reigning conference champion holds the lead with 72 team points, followed closely by Minnesota with 64. Michigan and Wisconsin are tied with the Boilermakers to round out the top five spots in the team standings.

The Hoosiers kicked things off with a victory in the 800 free relay (7:06.66) and a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:39.19). Both times were good enough to qualify for NCAA consideration.

Action continues Thursday with a preliminary session set for 11 a.m. ET to be followed by finals at 6:30 p.m. A complete schedule of events, as well as live results and live video from the championships, can be found at purduesports.com.
