Day two of the 2012 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships have concluded at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center on the campus of Auburn University. Through 14 events, Minnesota sits at No. 12 with 77 team points, followed by No. 13 Indiana with 75 points. Wisconsin sits in 14th place with 70 points, followed by No. 19. Ohio State (30 points). Michigan comes in 27th place with 14 points, while Purdue sits in 34th place with five tallies.
Ohio State's Bianca Alvarez recorded a runner-up finish in the 3-meter event with a score of 386.30, while Indiana's Laura Ryan placed eight with 330.40 points, and Hoosier teammate Allysa Vavra placed fifth in the 400 individual medley (4:01.73). Minnesota's 800 freestyle relay team of Jessica Plant, Tori Simenec, Lauren Weis and Ashley Steenvoorden recored a time of 7:00.65 in the 800 freestyle relay. Wisconsin posted a pair of seventh place finishes. The 200 medley relay team of Amie Osten, Ashley Wanland, Rebecka Palm and Rebecca Thompson recorded a time of 1:37.83, while Wanland finished in 59.87 in the 100 breaststroke. Northwestern's Jennifer Wilson placed eight in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.81.
Day three of the NCAA Championships will begin with preliminary events of the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 400 freestyle and platform diving. At 4:30 p.m. CT, preliminaries of the 1,650 freestyle will be held. Finals of these events will begin at 7 p.m. CT.
