Wisconsin and Purdue Tabbed Swimmer and Diver of the Week

The conference office announced on Tuesday the fifth weekly women's swimming and diving award winners for the 2010-11 season. Wisconsin's Maggie Meyer and Purdue's Erin Mertz earned the nod for Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively.
Women's Swimmer of the Week
Maggie Meyer won three of four races last weekend against Arizona, including victories in both of her individual races on Friday night. Meyer swept the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events, winning with NCAA provisional times of 54.36 and 1:58.72, respectively. The senior swam the lead leg in the Badgers' win in the 400-yard medley relay as the team won with a NCAA `B' time of 3:40.13. Meyer followed that by finishing second with the 200-yard freestyle relay team in a time of 1:33.24. This is Meyer's first Swimmer of the Week award of the season and sixth of her career.

Women's Diver of the Week
Erin Mertz helped Purdue to a sweep over Northwestern and Notre Dame last weekend, earning three first-place finishes. The Omaha, Neb., native posted a pair of top-two finishes during Friday's dual, capturing first on the 3-meter board (310.20) and second on the 1-meter board (276.91). Against the Irish, the senior scored 304.64 and 316.95 in the 1- and 3-meter events, respectively, to claim top honors in each. This is the second weekly award for Mertz, after earning the honor on Oct. 26.
