Minnesota and Ohio State Collect Weekly Women's Swimming and Diving Awards

Minnesota's Jillian Tyler and Ohio State's Bianca Alvarez have been named the Big Ten women's Swimmer and Diver of the week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Women's Swimmer of the Week
Jillian Tyler put together a strong showing at the Minnesota Grand Prix on Friday, finishing first in the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke and 400-medley relay en route to her second Swimmer of the Week honor this season. The Golden Gopher senior broke her own school record in the 100-breaststroke, finishing with an NCAA A qualifying time of 58.22. She also turned in an NCAA A time of 2:08.24 in the 200-breaststroke along with NCAA B times of 2:01.37 in the 200-individual medley and 3:38.57 in the 400-medley relay.

Women's Diver of the Week
Ohio State's Bianca Alvarez earned first-place finishes in the one-meter and three-meter dives in the Buckeyes' 213-87 win over Ohio on Friday. Alvarez posted a score of 321.45 on the one-meter board before earning a mark of 341.63 on the three-meter board, marking NCAA qualifying scores for each. The pair of first-place finishes helped Ohio State to its fourth win of the season. This marks the second weekly award of Alverez's career.
