Indiana and Ohio State Pick Up Weekly Accolades

Park Ridge, Ill. - Ohio State's Megan Detro and Indiana's Gabby Agostino have been named the Big Ten women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Women's Swimmer of the Week
Detro posted five first-place finishes, including two individual events, at the Purdue Invitational to earn her second career Swimmer of the Week award. The sophomore posted the first two of her five NCAA provisional times in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle in 22.91 and 49.22 respectively. She also swam on three victorious relays, including leading off the 400-yard freestyle relay that won in a school-record time of 3:19.25 and anchoring the winning 400-yard medley relay (3:41.11) and 800-yard freestyle relay (7:13.34). Detro placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with an NCAA provisional time of 1:47.14. The Carmel, Ind., native returns the swimming laurel to the Buckeyes for the first time since Detro accomplished the feat Dec. 1, 2009.

Women's Diver of the Week
Indiana's Gabby Agostino swept the diving events in a double dual meet with Penn State and Virginia last weekend. She picked up first place on the 1-meter board with a mark of 322.35. Competing on the 3-meter board, the junior posted a score of 326.90 for the win. It was Agostino's second victory on the 1-meter this year and makes her a perfect 4-0 on the 3-meter this season. This marks the second weekly honor of Agostino's career, as the South Bend, Ind., native took home the award on Nov. 2, 2010.
