Swimmer of the Week
Nikki White, Indiana
Fr., Austin, Texas / Bowie
White had a stellar performance this past weekend at the Hoosierland Invitational, posting four first-place finishes and setting one Big Ten and three school records. Her new conference mark of 4:36.61 in the 500-yard freestyle is the seventh-fastest time ever by an American and automatically qualifies her for the NCAA meet in March. White’s 200 and 1,650 freestyle times of 1:46.28 and 16:07.39, respectively, become all-time bests at Indiana, each hitting NCAA ‘B’ cut times. The Austin, Texas, native also took part on the winning 800 free relay team that recorded a 7:18.73, clocking in under the NCAA ‘B’ standard. The freshman garners her first career weekly accolade.
