The conference office announced on Tuesday the 10th weekly women’s swimming and diving awards for meets through Dec. 7-13. Iowa’s Verity Hicks was tabbed the conference’s top swimmer of the week while Michigan State’s Sarah Clay took home the weekly diving laurel.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week:
Verity Hicks, Iowa

Senior Verity Hicks recorded two first-place finishes for the Hawkeyes in Iowa’s dual meet against in-state rival Iowa State last Friday. Hicks captured Iowa’s first win of the night with a season-best time of 1:51.42 in the 200 freestyle. She went on to win the 500 free, posting a time of 4:58.85 before contributing to a second-place finish in the 400 free relay (3:26.62). This is the first weekly honor of Hicks’ career.

Sarah Clay earned her second weekly diving laurel of the season after posting a pair of top finishes to help Michigan State edge Ball State, 155-145, on Saturday. The Spartan sophomore posted an NCAA qualifying score of 297.00 in the one-meter competition to best the field by nearly 50 points. She later followed that performance with a 276.23 mark on the three-meter platform to rake in some crucial points for the Spartans.
