Big Ten Women's Tennis Season Opens This Weekend

PARK RIDGE, IL - Big Ten women's tennis opens its 2007 season this weekend with three teams in action starting Friday. Michigan will be hosting the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor Jan. 12-14. Eight-time defending Big Ten Champion Northwestern will kick off its season at the National Collegiate Tennis Championships (NCTC) Classic, in Indian Wells, Calif. this weekend while Indiana will host a pair of matches on Jan. 14 against Miami (Ohio) and Western Michigan. Purdue and Wisconsin will participate in the Virginia Cavalier Invitational in Charlottesville, Va. Jan. 19-21 while Penn State joins Northwestern in Tallahassee for the Florida State Mock Duals. Iowa will get in the action too hosting its own Hawkeye Invitational the same weekend and Michigan State is home, as Cleveland State makes it way to East Lansing on Friday Jan. 19. Illinois will begin its season on Jan. 20, while Ohio State and Minnesota open play on Jan. 27.
