Big Ten Women's Tennis Season Opens This Weekend

PARK RIDGE, IL - Big Ten women's tennis opens its 2006 season this weekend with six teams in action starting Friday. Michigan will be hosting the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor Jan. 13 and 14. Illinois travels to Miami for the Florida International University Invitational and Michigan State will play Montana State and Vanderbilt in Nashville. Wisconsin and Purdue will participate in the Virginia Cavalier Invitational in Charlottesville, Va. Jan. 14-16 while Indiana will host a pair of matches on Jan. 15 against Miami (Ohio) and Western Michigan. Seven-time defending Big Ten Champion Northwestern will kick off its season by hosting the Wildcat Invitation on Jan. 20-22 with Florida State and New Mexico joining Penn State and Iowa in Evanston. Ohio State will begin its season on Jan. 21, while Minnesota opens play on Jan. 27.
