Minnesota's Pintusava Named Big Ten Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week

Big Ten Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week Minnesota freshman Natallia Pintusava earns Big Ten Athlete of the Week accolades after scoring three points for the Golden Gophers against No. 53 Marshall and Kentucky over the weekend. Pintusava, ranked 51st in the country in singles, started her weekend with a 6-3, 7-6 victory over 27th-ranked Michaela Kissell of Marshall in No. 1 singles in her collegiate debut on Friday. She also paired with fellow freshman Yuliana Umanets at No. 2 doubles to earn an 8-5 victory against Catherine Kellner and Maria Voscekova. Pintusava and Umanets then defeated Kentucky's Khristina Blajkevitch and CeCe Witten, 8-4, for the pair's second win of the weekend. The freshman's only loss of the weekend was to Kentucky's Megan Broderick in a 3-6, 7-6 (4), 1-0 (10-6) defeat.
