Sophomore Katya Zapadalova garners her first career weekly award after finishing the weekend atop both the singles and doubles line-up for Indiana, posting a 4-0 record at No 1. singles and No. 1 doubles. Zapadalova did not disappoint, winning all four of her matches in straight sets and leading the No. 30-ranked Hoosiers to a pair of 7-0 sweeps over Marquette and Ball State in Sunday’s doubleheader. In doubles play, Zapadalova teamed up with Alba Berdala to defeat Marquette’s tandem of Paola Calderon and Kylie Moore, 8-6. The Hoosier duo then went on to post an 8-1 win over Dena Boulieris and Georgina Thomson of Ball State. The Yaroslavl, Russia native then carried her strong play over to singles, where she recorded a pair of triumphs over Calderon (6-4, 6-3) and Ball State’s Sarah Hebble (6-4, 6-4) to complete the day.
