Michigan's Critser Earns Weekly Women's Tennis Laurel

Big Ten Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week Michigan's Sam Critser reels in her first Big Ten women's tennis Athlete of the Week award after helping the eighth-ranked Wolverines to back-to-back wins at ITA Kickoff Weekend. The 105th-ranked singles player in the country, Critser defeated Auburn's Olivia Bennett, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) at No. 2 singles. The freshman then paired with Mimi Nguyen to take down Caroline Thornton and Olivia Bennett, 9-8 (3), at No. 2 doubles en route to a 7-0 sweep of the No. 59 Tigers on Saturday. Critser then upended 10th-ranked Danielle Lao of Southern California, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 2 singles to propel the Wolverines to a 5-2 win over the 18th-ranked Trojans on Sunday. With the wins, Michigan moved to 3-0 this season and earned a spot in the ITA Team Indoor Championships, Feb. 18-21.
