Northwestern sophomore Brittany Wowchuk reels in her first Big Ten women's tennis Athlete of the Week award after going 4-0 against No. 71 Minnesota and No. 6 Duke over the weekend. Wowchuk and Elena Chernyakova defeated the 84th-ranked pair in the country of Alessandra Ferrazzi and Alexa Palen, 8-3, at No. 2 doubles against Minnesota. Wowchuk, ranked 66th in the country in singles, then defeated Ferrazzi, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 2 to help the Wildcats to a 7-0 sweep of the Golden Gophers. She and Chernyakova teamed up again to defeat the 39th-ranked pair of Mary Clayton and Monica Gorny, 8-4, to clinch the doubles point for Northwestern against Duke. The sophomore then picked up her biggest win of the weekend, a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 victory over fourth-ranked Reka Zsilinszka, at No. 2 singles in the Wildcats' 4-3 loss to the Blue Devils.
