Northwestern Earns Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week Award

Wildcats’ Erin Larner claims weekly conference honor


Athlete of the Week

Erin Larner, Northwestern
Sr. – Portland, Ore. – Jesuit

  • Went 2-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles play last week in the No. 1 flights
  • Led No. 8 Northwestern to a 2-0 start in conference action with a 4-2 win vs. No. 6 Illinois, its second straight vs. a Top-10 opponent, and a 6-1 win vs. Iowa
  • Defeated Illinois’ No. 90-ranked Asuka Kawai 6-1, 3-6, 6-0 in singles
  • Teamed with Maddie Lipp, the No. 2 doubles tandem in the country, to defeat Illinois’ top duo of Emilee Duong and Jaclyn Switkes, 6-1
  • Defeated Iowa’s Yufei Long in the top singles position, 6-3, 6-4, and teamed with Lipp to defeat Long and Zoe Douglas in the top doubles spot, 6-4
  • Earns her third Athlete of the Week award of her career
