On March 10, Harkins led the Illini past a No.50-ranked Louisville team that entered the contest with a four-match win streak. Harkins, a sophomore, teamed with junior Emily Wang to defeat the top pair of Cardinals in a tough battle by a score of 8-6. The Illini found themselves down 1-0 in the match until Harkins, playing at No. 1 singles, got the point against Louisville's Maria Klokotzky by a score of 6-4, 6-1. From there, the Illini rallied around Harkins' victory to take the match by a final of 5-2.
The player of the week honor is the first of Harkins career.
