Big Ten Announces Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week

Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week Hubbs won seven matches last week to help Ohio State to four straight dual wins. During all four matches, Hubbs teamed with Julie Blackmore to win each of their match ups at No. 2 Doubles. The Buckeyes began their week participating in two duals at the Ft. Meyers Collegiate Invite. Against Drake, Hubbs only participated in doubles play with Blackmore to win, 8-7. The duo won again against Coastal Carolina in convincing fashion, 8-2. Hubbs also notched her first win of the week at No. 5 Singles against Sophie Ahlberg, 6-2, 6-2. During the weekend in Big Ten action against Minnesota, Hubbs and Blackmore won their third match of the week to start the dual. The Omaha, Neb., native then defeated Danielle Mousseau of the Golden Gophers, 6-0, 6-2. In the final dual of the weekend against Iowa, Hubbs and Blackmore won by their largest margin of the week, earning an 8-1 triumph. The freshman then went on to win her third singles match of the week in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1. This is Hubbs' first career weekly accolade. Last Ohio State AOW: Julie Blackmore (3/4/08)
