Northwestern Clinches Share of Big Ten Regular Season Championship
April 14, 2008
No. 1 Northwestern picked up its second victory of the weekend with a 7-0 sweep of Minnesota. The Wildcats earned their 16th-consecutive victory and improved to 22-1 overall with just one regular season dual match remaining. The 'Cats (22-1, 9-0) took a 1-0 match advantage after taking the doubles point from Minnesota. With the same lineup in place as Saturday, the Wildcats were once again able to prevail at two courts en route to clinching the point. With the win, Northwestern improves to 9-0 in conference play and have clinched at least a share of the Big Ten regular season championship. The 'Cats need just one win to secure their fourth-consecutive 10-0 conference finish. The Wildcats have not lost to a Big Ten opponent in 59 straight matches.
