The field is set for the 2009 Big Ten Women’s Tennis Tournament, slated to take place Thursday-Sunday, April 23-26, at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison, Wis. Top-ranked Northwestern (10-0, 22-1) clinched the No. 1 seed after capturing its 11th consecutive Big Ten regular season crown on Sunday afternoon with a 7-0 triumph over Penn State. The Wildcats recorded an unblemished 10-0 record for the fifth straight year under Claire Pollard’s tutelage, improving their winning streak against Big Ten opponents to 74 matches. 

Michigan (9-1, 15-5) earned the No. 2 seed, while Illinois (8-2, 17-6) clinched the No. 3 spot. Ohio State (7-3, 14-9) claimed the No. 4 seed and Indiana (6-4, 14-9) earned the No. 5 seed. Each of the top five teams receives a first-round bye and will start tournament play on Friday, April 24. The tournament begins on Thursday morning with the title match set for Sunday at Noon (CT).
