ROSEMONT, Ill. -
All 12 conference teams travel to Evanston, Ill., for the 2014 Big Ten Women’s Tennis Tournament. The tournament, hosted by Northwestern University, will begin on Thursday and conclude with the championship match on Sunday.
Matches begin at 10 a.m. CT on Thursday with eighth-seeded Michigan State taking on ninth-seeded Iowa and fifth-seeded Illinois going against 12th-seeded Nebraska. At 2 p.m., seventh-seeded Indiana will square off with 10th-seeded Penn State and sixth-seeded Minnesota will battle 11th-seeded Wisconsin.
Friday’s quarterfinals will begin at 10 a.m., with top-seeded Michigan facing the winner of Michigan State-Iowa and fourth-seeded Purdue taking on the winner of Illinois-Nebraska. Second-seeded Northwestern will take on Indiana or Penn State, while third-seeded Ohio State will face the winner of Minnesota-Wisconsin at 2 p.m.
The tournament semifinals are scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The championship match will be played on Sunday at Noon and will be broadcast by BTN on May 8 at 4 p.m. CT.
Northwestern won its fourth Big Ten Tournament last season following three consecutive tournament victories from 2009-11.
