Mimi Nguyen, Michigan

Nguyen claims her first career Big Ten Athlete of the Week honor after helping fourth-ranked Michigan clinch the Big Ten Championship for the first time since 1997. Michigan defeated No. 21 Illinois on Saturday to clinch a share of the conference crown, then knocked off No. 43 Indiana on Sunday for the outright title. Individually, Nguyen's two victories at No. 3 singles over Illinois' Maris Lambropolous, 6-2, 6-2, and Indiana's Katya Zapadalova, 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (5), improved her conference singles record to 10-0. In doubles action, Nguyen and teammate Michelle Sulahian won matches over Illinois' 61st-ranked tandem of Leigh Finnegan and Megan Fudge, 8-6, and Indiana's duo of Leslie Hureau and Maria Guerreiro, 8-4.
