Michigan and Northwestern Set to Compete in Round of 16

Michigan and Northwestern continue their run toward the national title at the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships on Thursday, as both teams head to Athens, Ga., for matches in the Round of 16. The No. 13 Wildcats take on No. 4 Stanford at Noon ET, while the 15th-seeded Wolverines match up with No. 2 Florida at 7 p.m.

Northwestern secured a spot in the Round of 16 for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons after wins over Akron (4-0) and Notre Dame (4-2) last weekend. The winner of Northwestern and Stanford will take on either No. 5 USC or No. 12 Baylor in the quarterfinals on Saturday at Noon.

Michigan is making its third straight Round of 16 appearance and fourth overall in program history. The Wolverines defeated Illinois-Chicago, 4-0, in the first round of the tournament before edging Texas A&M, 4-3, in Round 2. With a win, Michigan would advance to take on either No. 7 North Carolina or No. 10 Miami (Fla.) in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 4 p.m.

The NCAA Championships semifinals will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, followed by the championship match on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
