Michigan Advances in NCAA Women's Tennis Doubles Championships

Michigan's Emina Bektas and Brooke Bolender advanced to the second round of the NCAA Doubles Championships. The Wolverine knocked off USC's Kaitlyn Christian and Sabrina Santamaria, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 on Thursday. Bektas and Bolender resume play on Friday at 2:30 p.m. ET as they face Georgia's Nadja Gilchrist and Chelsey Gullickson.

Northwestern's Linda Abu Mushrefova and Nida Hamilton fell to Florida's Lauren Embree and Joanna Mather (6-0, 6-1).

Two Big Ten women's tennis doubles teams compete today at the 2012 NCAA Women's Doubles Championships in Athens, Ga. Michigan's Emina Bektas and Brooke Bolender take on No. 4 Kaitlyn Christian and Sabrina Santamaria of USC at 5 p.m. ET, while Northwestern's Linda Abu Mushrefova and Nida Hamilton face Florida's Lauren Embree and Joanna Mather at 6 p.m.
