Northwestern And Indiana Share Women's Tennis League Title
April 25, 2004
With victories on Sunday, Northwestern and Indiana each clinched a share of the Big Ten regular season title. The 'Cats defeated Michigan State Sunday, 6-1, in East Lansing, while Indiana came from behind to defeat Purdue, 4-3. Both squads finished 9-1 in Conference play.
For Northwestern, it is the team's fifth title in the past six years. The 'Cats are ranked tenth nationally and will hold the top seed in next week's Big Ten tournament by virtue of their win over Indiana in March. The tournament begins Thursday on Northwestern's campus.
The championship is the 16th overall for the No. 25 Hoosier crew, and first since 1998.
