Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

Geena Gall, Michigan
Sr., Grand Blanc, Mich. / Grand Blac

Gall set the country’s best 800-meter time of the season this past weekend at the Meyo Invitational with an automatic qualifying time of 2:03.91.  The All-American also ran the anchor leg on the winning distance medley relay team that clocked in at 11:10.23, narrowly missing the NCAA automatic time by just over a second.  Gall picks up her second career weekly honor.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Gayle Hunter, Penn State
Sr., Riverside, Calif. / Riverside

Hunter collects her second-consecutive Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week award as she guided her Nittany Lion squad to a first-place performance at the Sykes Sabock Challenge Cup.  The senior posted a provisional qualifying mark in the long jump with a winning leap of 20-1 (6.12 m.).  Hunter also anchored the first-place 4x400-meter relay team which hit the NCAA standard of 3:36.10.  The California native just missed qualifying for the NCAA meet in the 60-meter hurdles by two one-hundredths of a second with a time of 8.45.  Hunter is honored with her third career Big Ten weekly laurel.
