Big Ten Women's Outdoor Track & Field Season Begins This Week

The 2013 Big Ten women’s outdoor track and field season is set to begin this week with Michigan, Ohio State and Purdue opening the new year. The Buckeyes and Boilermakers travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Thursday through Saturday for the Shamrock Invite, while the Wolverines visit Tampa, Fla., on Friday for the USF Bulls Invitational.

Four Big Ten teams are slated to begin their outdoor seasons the following weekend. On March 22-23, Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the Alabama Relays, while Nebraska visits Phoenix, Ariz., for the Arizona State Invitational.

The remaining Big Ten teams open their outdoor campaigns on March 28-30. Illinois competes in Austin, Texas, at the Texas Relays, while Michigan State visits Raleigh, N.C., for the Raleigh Relays. Student-athletes from Minnesota will compete in two events, as the Gophers head to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Arkansas Invite and Palo Alto, Calif., for the Stanford Invitational. Penn State will join the Gophers for the Stanford Invite.
