2010 Big Ten Outdoor Season Off and Running

The 2010 Big Ten Women's Outdoor season begins this weekend with eight conference teams in action across the nation. The Big Ten will be well represented at the Stanford Invitational with Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Penn State traveling to Palo Alto, Calif., for weekend competition. The meet is scheduled to begin Friday, March 27 at Cobb Track at Angell Field with competition wrapping up on Saturday.

In other weekend competition, Ohio State and Wisconsin will head south to open the 2010 outdoor campaign at the Raleigh Relays and Florida State Relays, respectively, while Purdue travels west to Tempe, Ariz., to vie at the Arizona State Invitational.

The remaining three conference programs will open the outdoor season the following weekend. Michigan State is set to play host at the Spartan Invitational on April 3 while Illinois makes the short trip to West Lafayette, Ind., to compete at the Mike Poehlein Invitational. Wrapping up the Big Ten contingent is Minnesota. The Golden Gophers will split competition with a portion of the squad traveling to the Jim Click Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., on April 3. The remaining Minnesota competitors will remain within the friendly confines of St. Paul, Minn., to compete at the Hamlin Invitational.
