Leatherman has been named Athlete of the Week after recording three NCAA regional qualifying marks in the shot put, hammer throw and discus last weekend. The senior tossed the shot put 49'6 1/2" (15.10 meters), good enough a first-place finish. After earning 2005 All-America honors and a Big Ten outdoor individual title in the hammer throw, Leatherman began this outdoor season by finishing first in the event with a regionally qualifying distance of 199'02" (60.72 m). The Timbo, Ark., native went on to record a 160'00" (48.77 m) discus mark which placed her fifth overall. She has now earned the weekly accolade three times in her outdoor career as she was also honored during the 2005 season (April 25 and May 9).
