Ohio State and Indiana Earn Conference Recognition

The conference office announced on Wednesday the weekly women's outdoor track and field awards. Ohio State's Letecia Wright was recognized as Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week, while Indiana's Vera Neuenswander earned the nod as Field Athlete of the Week honoree.
Track Athlete of the Week:
Letecia Wright opened the outdoor campaign with a first-and second-place finish last weekend at the inaugural Big Ten/SEC Challenge, helping the competing Big Ten teams to a 379-349 victory. The senior won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 13.18, tied for third-fastest in the nation so far this season and ranks first in the conference. Wright also helped the Buckeyes' 4x100 relay team to a runner-up finish in a time of 44.98, the fifth-fastest time in school history and a top 20 Division I performance this season.

Field Athlete of the Week:
Indiana's Vera Neuenswander helped the Big Ten squads to a 379-349 victory over the competing SEC teams in the first-ever Big Ten/SEC Challenge last weekend after earning a first-place finish in the pole vault. The Jefferson City, Mo., native cleared 4.10 meters (13-5.25), which currently ranks seventh nationally and leads the conference by nearly four inches.
